According to the Hurd's official website
(http://www.gnu.org/software/hurd):

"The GNU Hurd is the GNU project's replacement for the Unix kernel."

The Hurd is a replacement for the Unix kernel and not a complete operating
system. Please refer to the whole OS as GNU or GNU/Hurd.
