Half-Yes.
On GNU/Hurd, many things are launched on-request.
Example: filesystems are mounted on first access.
OTOH, some makefileish init would be really good thing.
It could even be ported to GNU/Linux then.
Anybody working on this ?
I've seen one such thing for GNU/Linux, but don't remember URL :-(.
