I have the same problem with hurd-20000130.deb. I think I have some problems
with the installtation anyway. Using a grub floppy found on alpha.gnu.org I
have to use "kernel=/bootku/gnumach.gz root=... -s". I have absolutly no idea
where this ku comes from! It is not there when I look into the hurd-partition
under linux. e2fscsaiys everything is fine...
