I agree with Roland's concerns over the size of the package. I would like to say, however, that having libc symbols can be a great assistance in debugging programs, not just in debugging the library. It might well be that having the symbols in the shared library is sufficient and they don't need to be in the archive library too. Though, my preference would be to have them there as well. Thomas
