It's a dumb little GNU program that makes sure filenames fit 8.3
rules, and other such noisome restrictions.

I don't think so. It's a never-released GNU program; the source is
/gd/gnu/from at GNU Central. It has several nice features, and should
find its way into some GNU distribution eventually.

GNU 0.2 was released before the Mach and Hurd patches to gdb had been
fully merged. As of 4.17, they are supposed to be fully merged.
