Hello, The attached tar file can be extracted on a gnu root partition to give a poor man's sysvinit replacement. Additionally, you have to make /libexec/rc a symlink to /etc/init.d/rcS. Then reboot, and report if it works. Look at the scripts and say what can be done better. I tried to minimalize the differences between the Hurd and Linux, but some stuff had to be deleted/changed.
