64-bit Kernels are "cross-compiled" from a 32-bit user space.
There has been quite a bit of work done for a 64-bit user space
but I've not seen a 64-bit chroot yet.

Vital? There's several people working on kernel issues and toolchain.
But hppa barely made it into lenny. Debian must be archiving the discussions
about hppa someplace...
