I know; I work some month to try to fix this pb but risc system and moreover
smp are not in my education ;)
I would realy need to go back to university to learn more from basis those
stuff. It would be very interesting but no budget and no time for this.

Umm, isn't it any more possible to choose it (it's a long time I play to
install debian, on parisc it was with the iso-0.93 iirc ;) ). At a moment
it was looking for available kernels on cd; then proposed one by default
and asked you if you accepted or changed it.
Anyway, the reasonable default should be set to a up kernel (I never hear
of any smp system which didn't work with a up kernel $) ), though.
