-fPIC problems again

When building http://skolelinux.no/~werner/debian/pool/unstable/h/hwinfo/

make[3]: Nothing to be done for `install'.

        -Wl,-soname=libhd.so.8 \
        -o ../src/libhd.so.8.38
/usr/bin/ld: ../src/libhd.a(braille.o): relocation R_PARISC_DPREL21L can not be
used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC

make: *** [install] Error 2
debuild: fatal error at line 763:
dpkg-buildpackage failed!

Could anyone help me track the source of the problem, so that the upstream
author cand packager can be informed of the solution? Thanks!
