RE: Debian 3.0 on 712/60 & transceiver

That transceiver alone won't give you a second network interface on the 712.
What you need to look for is an optional network adapter in the rightmost of
the two expansion slots at the left of the box (when seen from the back).
The HP product number is A4014A. To this card you connect a Y-cable
(A2263-62045) and then you can connect your transciever to this cable. When
you boot a system with two NIC's with debian-3.0 you should see something
like this with the optional interface in 12-13 (this list is from a 712/80
but that doesn't change anything in this context) Once you got that you can
configure your second interface as eth1.

ARGH ......
The guy who sold it told me they are seperate interfaces .... and that was
one of the main reasons to buy it ..... da**ed ...
