just to clarify this:

The "real" package name is slapd_2.0.23-7_hppa.deb

-> apt-get install ./slapd_2.0.23-7_hppa
E: Release 'slapd_2.0.23-7_hppa' for 'python-zlib' was not found

-> dpkg -i slapd_2.0.23-7_hppa.deb
slap daemon is properly installed and after answering some questions up and
running

Why this different behavior?  It seems to me that something with apt-get
ist broken.
