HPMC is often tied to an H/W problem, such as CPU internal error, memory problems related to double-bit errors. First try to boot using the H/W basic configuration: less RAM modules as you can, 1 HDD, I don't mention the number of CPUs because it seems to me obvious. Try also to download the iso image of Debian HPPA 0.9.3 which you can find on http://www.parisc-linux.org. On my HP9000/710 it worked perfectly, then install the other pkgs through apt-get, can you?
That's my suggestion. Othewise you can contact someone who can decode the HPMC, I worked in HP (I was an HA customer engineer and I think it can be related to a memory (NOT sure of course!!!)
