Not a big deal to do that but I am not sure if it would help. Is there
any machine available where I could test - I don't want to upload into
the blue. 

Just tried on sarti:

paer seems to be down.

This looks like the reference into libgtk is the problem and perhaps that
option needs to be set for that package. Anyway, I am now building 
python-gnome with the upstream configure defaults, it should work without
those dependencies. Let's see it -ffunction-sections helps...
