Thanks for the prompt and thorough reply. I am glad to know that pandoc is not dead. I was indeed unaware of the situation of the Debian Haskell ecosystem.

The whole Haskell ecosystem in Debian uses CDBS. Unfortunately no-one is working right now on migrating to dh, since it involves a lot of work, and the Debian Haskell group is under staffed. Any help is more than welcome :)

I once migrated the whole infrastructure for building Octave packages to dh. I certify that it is a consequential chunk of work and that the person doing it must not be averse to Perl.
