Cleanup maintenance before the release?

Hi,

while working towards GHC 7.6.1 in experimental I come across packages
who have not been updated by upstream for that version yet (and hence
fail to build). Some of them seem to be either very stable or not
actively maintained – http://hackage.haskell.org/package/AMI is one
example.

I suggest that we go through the packages that would need manual
patching to work with GHC 7.6.1, look at those that have not been a part
of squeeze and then decide whether we actually want these packages in a
stable release, or whether we want to drop them before (which should be
no problem if they are leaf packages).

Opinions?

Greetings,
Joachim
