Just a heads up. I wouldn't want to do anything about this now. I was browsing through glasgow-haskell-users@haskell.org's archives and saw this message: http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/glasgow-haskell-users/2010-April/018778.html GHC wasn't supposed to include utf8-string along with the installed libraries. The current ghc6 package does that. We can live with it for now, but the package will need to be reintroduced with a later ghc6 release.
