I felt it to be too hackish to actually propose that :-) A proper fix would be to make the Binary Int representation arch independent, or at least the Binary FastString: http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/ticket/3041 Actually, this is also a change we could do in Debian, together with a new ghc upload (e.g. 6.10.2), if it doesn’t break anything else – and I wouldn’t expect so, as we rebuild everything then anyways, and the Binary class in ghc is only used there (it’s separate from Data.Binary, AFAIK).
