Yep, i'm not shure if this is a kernel bug or something with the image itself. I used the same image and ran into the same problem - there is no real support for Zaurus in GPE at the moment. It would not be that hard to integrate GPE into OZ and adapt the hardware specific parts to run on the Zaurus, it's just the problem that this is not finished yet. The GPE mailinglist (gpe@handhelds.org) would be the right place to ask/discuss issues of using GPE on the Zaurus.
