Bug#759126: libcw6: libcw fails to open OSS device on FreeBSD

Package: libcw6
Version: 3.3.1-1
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Testing unixcw application with OSS audio output on FreeBSD 10.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

I started cwcp application on FreeBSD 10.

I have tested unixcw 3.3.1 on FreeBSD 10. The only available
soundcard output on FreeBSD is OSS, and unixcw 3.3.1 package was
built on this platform without any major problems, including
   support for OSS in libcw6.

I've tried to run cwcp application with OSS audio output (using
different output devices), but cwcp was unable to open (throught
   libcw6) any audio device.

Other (non-unixcw) applications installed on the build machine had
no problems with using the OSS audio sink.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Since libcw6 was built with OSS support, and OSS was configured
correctly on the build machine, unixcw should be able to use OSS
   audio sink without problems.

This problem does not occur on Linux, at least not on machines that
I've been using. I suspect that in future, after updates of audio
stack parts, Linux may be affected as well.

I didn't try to test this on Debian/kFreeBSD. I don't know what is
the root cause of this problem - is it located in the kernel or in
OSS library or in standard libc library, so kFreeBSD may or may not
   be affected.
