I hit ^Z during
   while echo dan jacobson;do :;done|cw -sc -w 25 -g 1
causing a never ending beeeeeep, until I did fg.

If one needs to answer the telephone, one wishes silence, not a
continual beep, during suspension.

This bug appears to have been fixed in the last 10 years. Nothing in the
changelog but I'm unable to reproduce it.

Closing - if it's possible to reproduce then please re-open and give
example invocation.
