Yes, that's a good description of my reasoning. As a user of
testing/unstable/experimental, you might well want to defer upgrading
gnome-shell until you've had a chance to either find alternatives to
extensions that you consider to be an important part of your workflow,
or help to make those extensions compatible with the new Shell yourself.
