Bug#992906: pango1.0: New upstream release 1.48.x

Source: pango1.0
Version: 1.46.2-3
Severity: wishlist
Tags: fixed-upstream bookworm sid
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-gtk-gnome@lists.debian.org
Control: fixed -1 1.48.9+ds1-1

We should get pango1.0/1.48.x ready for unstable. This is a blocker for
the upload of GTK 4 to unstable.

Have regressions been seen in Ubuntu?

There is a bug open about upstream reducing what they consider to be
part of the public API/ABI, resulting in incompatible changes to structs
that were formerly public (#974140), which happened between buster and
bullseye but has changed more between bullseye and 1.48.x. I'm sorry,
I don't have enough spoons to either persuade the bug submitter that
they are doing something unsupported, or persuade upstream that they need
to revert changes or bump the SONAME - both seem like unwinnable fights
that I don't want to get involved with. I think it's pretty clear that
we can't stay on last year's version indefinitely, though...

Are there any other known blockers?
