I'm currently packaging a panel applet for Debian. I've come across what

Should I follow this policy? It was last updated in 2005.
There is not a GNOME policy maintained via the aegis of the Debian Policy
group, but that's not unusual. A lot of the packaging teams have their
own policies. The best place to ask this question would be on
debian-gtk-gnome@lists.debian.org, so far as I can tell.
