The correct MIME type for Word files is application/msword (see
http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/application/msword), unlike
several other Microsoft formats (e.g. Excel) which had their MIME types
assigned after the introduction of the "vnd.*" convention.

shared-mime-info's /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml is wrong in
this regard; an upstream bug report covering this issue already exists:
