Heh, well, GConf *is* simple. It's not the registry. It's simpler and oddly,
provides a heck of a lot more flexibility. Additionally, the file selector is pluggable. If you want to
write a totally different one, perhaps one that looks like a command line,
you can do that.

The current file selector is not set in stone, and everyone knows there are
problems with it. That's hardly surprising. Obviously, we're not going to
choose a command-line-style file selector by default, but there's heaps of
room for improvement in the current one.

(I don't particularly agree with your analysis of GNOME usability, either,
but that's okay - I deal with upstream, you don't.)
