Well after the GDM debacle we had last time, I wouldn't blame any potential maintainers for not stepping up to the plate to "hijack" a package belonging to Ryan Murray. The last time I took a look at the esound package in Debian, I found trying to understand the patches currently applied to esd quite a daunting task, and to be honest, I don't want to blamed for breaking esd on non-i386 machines.
