Preferred Applications - Web Browser broken

hi,

somehow the preferred applications settings for the browser are broken.
if i select a browser not in the list, i.e. MozillaFirebird 
all is gray the next time i start preferred applications.

on top https is not registered anymore with the preferred web browser.
