font problem with UTF-8

Hello,

I have a bug (#179817) with one of my Debian package. I can reproduce
the bug myself. And I can also reproduce it using gtkfontsel.

$ cat /etc/locale.gen
de_DE ISO-8859-1
en_GB ISO-8859-1
en_US ISO-8859-1
fr_FR@euro ISO-8859-15
fr_FR ISO-8859-1
fr_FR.UTF-8 UTF-8

$ LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 gtkfontsel
The font "-*-arial-medium-r-normal--*-120-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1,
                  -*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-120-*-*-*-*-*-*" does not support all the required character sets for the current locale "fr_FR.UTF-8"
  (Missing character set "JISX0208.1983-0")
  (Missing character set "KSC5601.1987-0")
  (Missing character set "GB2312.1980-0")
  (Missing character set "JISX0201.1976-0")

And text using accented letters in the gtkfontsel "Preview" window do
not appear correctly.

Is it a known bug? Is there a workaround?

Please Cc: me as I am not a susbcriber of this list.

Regards,
