Mmm, are you sure you are using this package and not the 2.4.0.12-3,
which has this behavior and seems to be solved in 2.4.0.12-4 ?

Can we now please have a propper gdm2 package, which can be uploaded to
unstable until the gdm maintainer find that gdm2 is ready and upgrades
the gdm package to it.

This would not break anything, since gdm user would not know about gdm2,
and the build of gdm2 can even be disabled on arches where it causes
problems. Once gdm2 is ready to take over gdm, as seen by the gdm
maintainer, then the gdm2 package will be removed (or comaintainered or
whatever works best).

Sure, there would be need for a new gdm2 maintainer, for which i don't
volunteer, but since there are already at least 2 gdm2 packages around
...
