Surely we could back-port the fix from libgnomeui 2.1.x?
The problem is that libgnomeui 2.0 constructs an instance of GtkWidget,
which is an abstract type. GTK+ 2.0 allowed this, whereas GTK+ 2.2
(correctly) forbids this, resulting in an assertion failure and NULL
being returned.
The fix in libgnomeui 2.1.x can't have been that complex... :)
