I had this error once on my computer and a friend got exactly the same
one.
In order to correct this bug i just modified the w-window-manager
alternative :
	/etc/alternatives/x-window-manager -> /usr/bin/sawfish
and i launched gconf-editor to modify the gconf key :
	/ desktop / gnome / applications / window_manager / default
and set it to "/usr/bin/sawfish"

Note: it's not a sawfish problem, it's a gnome-session problem as i
could find. I had the same problem with Metacity too.

And the hanging problem when starting a gnome-session should be gone. It
worked perfectly with
JmG
