It will break some compatibility (unless you recompile the affected packages/downgrade them as well): Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies: gnome-control-center: Depends: bonobo-activation (>= 2.1.0) but 1.0.3-2.2 is to be installed Depends: libbonobo-activation4 (>= 2.1.0) but 1.0.3-2.2 is to be installed libbonoboui2-0: Depends: bonobo-activation (>= 2.1.0) but 1.0.3-2.2 is to be installed Depends: libbonobo-activation4 (>= 2.1.0) but 1.0.3-2.2 is to be installed libbonoboui2-common: Depends: bonobo-activation (>= 2.1.0) but 1.0.3-2.2 is to be installed Depends: libbonobo-activation4 (>= 2.1.0) but 1.0.3-2.2 is to be installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution). So the question is - is it safe/possible to recompile all of the above so that they use th 1.0.3 version of bonobo-activation? With the 1.0.3 version I have also observed quite a few problems with gnome-panel - sometimes it hangs displaying a black stripe instead of the panel, sometimes it segfaults (and never gets restarted again), sometimes it loses its settings (that might be a problem with gconf), too. So, can we get a _real_ solution to the problem instead of workarounds? I'm about to try to build debs for the 2.1 version of the GNOME desktp - maybe that will work better than what we currently have in Debian. regards, marek
