(2.0.2.91 apparently is fine) That sounds like it would be a good idea, I noticed that when my system was "hanging" on login, it got as far as starting gnome-settings-daemon and then stopped. Killing that process doesn't exactly make gnome happy, but it was able to limp on a bit. I'll grab a tarball now and see if I can confirm it fixes the problem.
