*Some* preference applets missing from menu (but not control-center)

Some upgrade I got a week or so ago (sid+experimental) removed all the 
desktop preferences from my gnome menu except for "Accessibility" and 
"Advanced".

Anyone know why, or how to find out?

If I run "gnome-control-center", nautilus pops up and shows me all the 
preferences without anything missing.  So it appears to be a 
menu-specific thing.
