for example... gnome-panel2 is conflicting gnome-panel, gnome-terminal2
is conflicting gnome-terminal, gnome-core2 is conflicting
gnome-core...

gnome2 is the developer platform, and that's why I think we
should be able to install it without messing our Gnome 1.4
installation... I worked around this by installing Gnome2
packages on a chroot I created specialy for that purpose

but I still think packages should be instalable together
