I've checked in a change to gnome-session to allow remote restart of
clients which support it. This change uses the same XSMP extension as
the xsm session manager. (This extension is documented in one of the
gnome-session header files; on my to-do list is writing a document
describing our extensions.)

Anyway, I'm writing because gnome-session now relies on the "rstart"
command when remote restart is requested. If you maintain a package
(deb, RPM, etc) that includes gnome-session, you will probably want to
update it to include this dependency.

Hope this helps,
Tom

PS: gnome-libs doesn't yet have the capability to request a remote
restart. I hope to add this as my schedule allows.
