I wonder if you read that message?
You can simply copy the line `upstream-vcs-tag = v%(version%~%-)s`
from the template - it works without any modifications for your
golang-golang-x-mod
Plese, *never* modify the `upstream-tag` setting. That is what gbp
uses to signify what was the upstream import. It is a tag created by
git-buildpackage.
