Docker.io package moving to the Go Team

Hello Go Team,

just a quick word to tell you that the docker.io package was now moved into the Go Team, with "Maintainer: Debian Go Packaging Team <team+pkg-go@tracker.debian.org>". The git repo is now at:

https://salsa.debian.org/go-team/packages/docker.git

For more background: I started maintaining this package 3 years ago, with the help of Dmitry. Others from the Go Team helped here and there (in particular, Shengjing fixed a FTBFS just in time for the buster release).

The peculiar thing with this package is that it uses MUT (Multiple Upstream Tarball), and is made of 4 upstream git repo: docker engine, docker cli, docker swarmkit and docker libnetwork. This choice was made after trying (and failing) to package those different components separately. MUT turns out to be the right solution, and since then maintaining the package went rather smoothly.

At the moment, the package is thoroughly up to date, and is in great shape for the bullseye release. I spent a lot of time cleaning up, and also documenting the workflow for package maintenance (d/README.source).

Now is the right time for me to let it go, as I don't want to commit to maintain this package for the next release cycle. If time allows I'll keep working on it, but no promise.

In any case, do not hesitate to contact me, I'll be happy to help.

Cheers,

  Arnaud
