The problem is the same that has already been reported [1] for mono, as
well as the already reported bug #887078. vlc is easier to debug than
amarok. Reverting the upstream commit f81ddabffd fixes the issue.

The issue is currently listed as a release blocker for the version 2.27
[2], so it will be either fixed or reverted for the final release.

Great. That for the explanation. As a side comment, it made kde multimedia configuration break (systemsettings) and also breaks phonon vlc backend. That's how I started investigating missing sound and remembering that clementine use gstreamer and was still working while other players were crashing...
