*.so is for use by ld, and is a linker script in this case. It have
been the case for libc.so for ages.

Dynamic linking uses the _abiname_, which is libm.so.6 in this case, but
is may be libm.so.6.1 or libm.so.0.3 in other cases.
It would be illogical to assume that all conditions remain stable.
