Bug#707802: libc-bin: ld.so(8) documents an option "supported by glibc2 for about one hour"
Package: libc-bin
Version: 2.17-1
Severity: minor
Hi,
ld.so(8) contains the following text:
--ignore-rpath LIST
Ignore RPATH and RUNPATH information in object names in LIST.
This option has been supported by glibc2 for about one hour.
Then it was renamed into:
--inhibit-rpath LIST
The man page is correct, --ignore-rpath was introduced at
Tue, 19 May 1998 23:18:44 +0000 [1] and renamed into --inhibit-rpath
almost an hour later, at Wed, 20 May 1998 00:15:00 +0000 [2].
But I cannot see any point in documenting that fact in the man page; the
information is pretty much useless and IMHO should be removed.
Regards,
robert
