I am not able to reproduce the problem, it seems your filesystem
corrupted the /usr/share/i18n/locales/es_ES file.
Could you please try to check the md5sum using the following command:
"md5sum /usr/share/i18n/locales/es_ES"
The correct md5sum is the following one:
9741c190611422a051e5b80c3ffa6419 /usr/share/i18n/locales/es_ES
If it is not correct, try to reinstall the locales package.
