Bug#545146: upgrade Debian 4->5 fails with tzdata: error 10 in post-install

Package: tzdata
Version: 2009g-0lenny1
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks the whole system

When upgrading from Debian 4 to 5(Lenny) by use of dselect/update/install,
the installation will fail in the middle of the upgrade, leaving the whole
system (possibly unable to reboot, since) only partially upgraded,with the msg:
tzdata: post-installation failed with error 10;
Package tzdata will remain in an unconfigured state.
There is no way to get around this and to continue the rest of the upgrade/installation. I finally managed (before even trying to reboot) to take a look at the post-installation script, took a wild guess, removed the file /etc/timezone ( contained only the word 'Factory' since the year 2000), then resumed dselect/install and the tzdata configuration continued successfully, so did the rest of the upgrade.
Today, /etc/timezone is still missing, and honestly, I don't care.
Yours truly
