Bug#499801: sprof doesn't work at all in lenny
Also described in this bug report:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=458861
sprof in lenny (libc 2.7-18) is currently completely non-functional
due to that bug.
I tried applying that patch to debian's glibc, and while it applies
cleanly, and solves the immediate issue, I then get:
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-open.c: 652: _dl_open: Assertion
`_dl_debug_initialize (0, args.nsid)->r_state == RT_CONSISTENT' failed!
And unfortunately, that bug is also still present in debian glibc
2.9-21. So sprof in unstable is also completely non-functional. :(
It might be solved by the patch in:
http://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2008-08/msg00016.html
But I haven't tried rebuilding again with that patch to see if those
*two* patches are all that's needed.
The thread suggests that it might not be...
