You say it's hackish without naming any reason. I say it's working
providing a repository.

You could add a link to the debian-amd64 list. There're useful messages
about your current conception (more useful than the ones at alioth).
Don't forget the resurrected ia32-libs list, describing the problems the
ia32-libs split is facing currently.
Could you be a little more specific?
