Bug#505387: libc6-dev: Unable to install package

Subject: libc6-dev: Unable to install package
Package: libc6-dev
Version: 2.3.6.ds1-13etch7
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

*** Please type your report below this line ***

-- System Information:
Debian Release: 4.0
  APT prefers stable
  APT policy: (500, 'stable')
Architecture: amd64 (x86_64)
Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash
Kernel: Linux 2.6.18-6-amd64
Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8)

When I run the following command

apt-get install libc6-dev

I get the following error message:

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libc6-dev: Depends: libc6 (= 2.3.6.ds1-13etch7) but 2.7-13 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

The output of the uname -a command is as follows:

Linux leiafish 2.6.18-6-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Jun 16 22:30:01 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Version of libc6: 2.7-13

Any help you give me will be appreciated.

Daryl Ashley
