Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 2.18.1-1
Severity: normal
I added a few patches to my lenny box and gnome-terminal started failing with the following error message:
$ gnome-terminal
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-runtime.c: 78: _dl_fixup: Assertion `((reloc->r_info) & 0xff) == 7' failed!
The window tries to open up and then closes and gives the error. Other gnome applications started failing also. gdm no longer
starts. apt-get says gdm is installed but there is no gdm in /usr/sbin.

Ok, I guess that all the problems you encountered with the glibc are
actually due to the installation. I am therefore closing the bug. Please
feel free to reopen it if you see it again after a reinstallation.
