Bug#408959: libc6: powerpc optimization patch

Stumbling across the patch offered at

further discussed, for example, at

it would seem to make lot of sense to introduce such a patch to Debian unstable libc6, thus helping building up community and feedback for official inclusion upstream.

I am giving it a try via apt-build, and I'd be grateful for any feedback.
