i've reinstalled libc6-i686 and again if i run xmms i get segmentation
fault
so, as suggested, i have run gdb /usr/bin/xmms and the following is the
results of bt:
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

i was surprised to see libGL.so.1, my graphic card is a nvidia one and
i had already problems with the nvidia-legacy package (see pls
Bug#398949) therefore i have done
apt-get remove --purge nvidia*
and
apt-get install --reinstall xserver-xorg-core
this, apparently has solved the problem and now xmms is running
notwithstanding libc6-i686 is installed.
thanks
