Sorry I wasn't able to test this before the bug got archived.
This is the same issue as 234880 (and earlier 67921).

I'm still getting exactly the same output with the current
unstable glibc for the test programs in the original report
so clearly the bug is still present.

  I don't know how you tested it, but taking the globber test, I now
have:

    $ ./globber '\*/*'
    Matched: */*
    Matched: */starryfile
    $ ./globber '\*/\*'
    Matched: */*

and the test case on http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3996 works
as well.

Please check your environment, the libc works.
